There were so many exciting new colors and finishes seen at the High Point 2014 Home Furnishings and Accessory Market in NC this October.

Here is a glamorous and finely finished bar cabinet that closes up completely when not in use.

This beautiful blue secretary desk has a finish that attracts attention and looks lovely in any room.  What an accent piece it is!   Notice the bedazzling hardware.

Although blue isn’t a new trend, it is an enduring one.  All shades of blue were seen at the Market in many different places.  It was seen in luxe blue velvet, in clear blue linen fabric and in many bedding and rug collections.  Blue was also seen in many bedazzling accent pieces.

The Pantone Color choices for this year were:  Sunflower which was a pumpkin orange, Horizon Blue which was a deep blue-green, and Byzantium which was a deep purple.  These colors were seen all over the Market in accent colors on pillows, in artwork, and and in many fabrics.

This beautiful pumpkin color looks great on these display cabinets and certainly brightens up a room.

As far as the new finishes, one of the most popular styles is European Traditional.  These were casual finishes that highlight grain patterns.  This makes these styles more livable for today’s consumers.

The fascinating satin finish on this dining room table makes a lovely traditional look for any room.  The intricate carving on the edge and on the arms adds beautiful warmth and dazzling detail.

At the Market we saw interesting high gloss white bases with white washed and silver leaf tops on coffee tables, dinette tables and end tables.  There  was a  brushed steel collection of tables with reclaimed elm and cowhide tops.  We also saw a stainless steel coffee table base with Railway ties and a reclaimed elm top. There was a solid spalted maple slab table with river stones and a stainless steel hourglass base.  So many interesting combinations of different finishes on various furniture pieces was very amazing to see.

This amazing table top was made of wonderful elm which was heavily distressed. This gives it a really  rustic look.

This snazzy snakeskin finish with metal legs was pretty to see and to touch. It would be a special piece for the right person.

I hope these photos and descriptions will help you in your search for the perfect finish and the colors that are just right for your home.
