There were lots of new rug products and interior design trends at the Dallas 2016 Total Home Market.  Interior designers loved the new indoor/outdoor rug programs.  There were rugs for every taste, including new bright patterns as well as neutral designs.

There were loose, organic and water color-like patterns in some rugs that enliven neutral palettes.  Also, modern folklore, a theme that evokes history-steeped carpet-making techniques is becoming more popular.

There were indoor/outdoor hand-hooked rugs made of 110% polyprophlene, as well as rugs that were hand-tufted in India of 100% wool in a loop and cut pile for added dimension and texture.

Heavily antiques effects that create a mirage of traditional pattern that once was, were seen at the Market.

There were also rugs that featured brilliantly colored designs inspired by abstract art and classic Persian motifs.  Other rugs were inspired by lodge living and Southwest motifs.

There is also a new collection of rugs that are all made of 100% cow hide hair. There were rugs of every color and style but we did see many that were in turquoise or in neutrals.

The rug below is made from strips of real leather and looks even better in person. This was seen at Loilei.

At Global Views we saw rugs that were very bold, saying “look at me!” in patterns like an oversized coral in hand-tufted wool, or a wood-grain pattern showing off its striking lines. The large gray and ivory geometric patterned rug below was shown at Global Views.

The bright and colorful rug below was neutral with gold and would be easy to use in many rooms.

Lush reds were seen at market , especially berry tones.  They are a fresh alternative to subdued wine hues from last year.  The luscious sweet red is showcased on modern florals and lush landscapes, such as Surya’s Kodari area rug which captures the mood and energy of a Bohemian, vibrant and artful year ahead.

The rug below was featured at Global Views. “Vibrant” and “energetic” are good words to describe this bright and pretty rug with pillows to match.

Surya also had pretty and practical hassocks and pillows made from rugs.  Here are some photos of them.
